Vypeen Island

​Known for its long sand beaches, laid-back Vypin Island is a common stop on local ferry tours. Popular Cherai Beach is renowned for dolphin sightings. The beautiful beach has calm waters  perfect for swimming. The charm of the popular getaway is enhanced by the palm-fringed backwaters on the way there and the frequent appearance of dolphins in the waters near the beach.The place has grown in popularity as a tourist destination and is now a relatively crowded area with visitors and vendors. There are a number of hotels and restaurants near the beach.

Vypeekotta Seminary

The remains of the Vypeekotta Seminary built by the Portuguese are preserved as a historic monument and site. The Vypeekotta Seminary is located in Chendamangalam village in Ernakulam District. There were many buildings in the premises which were destroyed during the wars in the later period. There is a church still functioning in the same compound probably built during the same period but renovated later. Many stone inscriptions were encountered from the church compound during the exploration done here in 1935. The inscriptions are fixed on a half wall in front of the church. The potteries collected from the nearby areas are housed in the Archaeological Museum, Thrissur. The remains of the Seminary with 50 cents of land was declared as protected monument in 1935.

Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary

The Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary, covering an area of barely 25 km², and located about 12 km from Kothamangalam. Constituted during 1983, Dr. Salim Ali, the world famous ornithologist, is directly responsible for the wonders on display at the Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary. His famous survey of Travancore in the 1930s led to the formation of this modern day paradise for avian life. He noted that the area was rich in bird diversity and ought to be turned into a sanctuary to conserve the same. The over 300 species that reside in these tropical and deciduous forests are testament to his great vision.

Munambam Beach

Munambam is a suburb of Kochi, India at the north end of Vypeen Island, surrounded by the Arabian Sea on the west, Periyar river on the east, and a mouth of the sea on the north. The main occupation of its inhabitants is fishing. The place is tailor made for exploration, and a popular destination for kite flying, with a number of gorgeous homestays coming up in the area over the years

Hill Palace

Hill Palace is an archaeological museum and palace located in the Tripunithura neighbourhood of Kochi city. One can see oil paintings, murals, sculptures, manuscripts and belongings of the Kochi royal family. Antique ceramics from the Far East, Kudakkallu  (tombstone), Thoppikkallu (hood stone), laterite memorials and wooden memorials from ancient civilisations like the Indus Valley and Harappa can also be found here. Marine Drive

Marine Drive is a buzzing waterfront  known for the Marine Walkway, popular for evening strolls, and leafy Subhash Bose Park. The modern Rainbow and Kettuvallam bridges offer backwater views, and cruises leave from jetties by the water The walkway is usually thronged by people in the evening and the view of the sun setting in the tranquil sea is a . At night, the place provides a picturesque spectacle with the light seeping out of the anchored ships. The cleanliness, sitting arrangements and the cool breeze from the backwaters are the other factors that draw tourists here.

Andhakaranazhi Beach

Located at a distance of 30 kms from Kochi, Andhakaranazhi Beach is an extension of the tiny village of Andhakaranazhi. The virgin beach is still noncommercialized and unexploited from tourism and a well-kept secret of the city. It is an azhy or a shoal which is a naturally formed ridge formed underwater and rises to the surface and is mostly used to regulate the inflow or outflow of water via two motor-operated shutters installed to the north and the south of the beach. Famous for its beach which draws a number of domestic and international tourists. it's not much crowded as in fortkochi and cherai beach.

Bhoothathankettu Dam Reserve forest

Bhoothathankettu is a dam and tourist spot in Ernakulam district in Kerala, situated outside the village of Pindimana, about 10 km away from the town of Kothamangalam and 50 km away from the main city of Kochi. The original natural dam has been supplemented by a modern dam impounding the Bhoothathankettu Reservoir (Thattekad Reservoir) BhoothathanKettu Dam & Reserve Forest manages a selection of goods asked by its clients and works to maintain its inventory in an updated and comprehensive state.

Edappally Church Complex

St. George's Forane Church is a Catholic pilgrim church situated in Edappally, Kochi, Kerala. It is a prominent pilgrim centre in Asia as well as the largest shrine of St. George in Asia. Around 5 million people visit the church every year because it is believed that the church has healing powers. At the town St George is known as Edappally Punyalan.

Sri Nellikattu Bagavathi temple

This is a private temple controlled by the Nellikkattu Mana, near the famous Sreedhareeyam Eye Hospital Koothattukulam. The main daiety is Bagavathy Amman. Very divine. Inside the temple complex there is a separate sannathi for Dhanvathri. In the mornings you can see some special poojas. The temple timing are 06.00 AM to 11.30 AM and 05.00 PM to 08.30 PM In this complex you can see a food court offering different variety from Pizza to Ayurveda food in a neat and spacious area.

Santa Cruz Basilica

The Museum Mattancherry

The Mattancherry Palace, also known as Dutch Palace, is one of the finest examples of the Kerala style of architecture interspersed with colonial influences. Located at around 12 km from Ernakulam, it was built around 1545 C.E. by the Portuguese as a present to King Veera Kerala Verma of Kochi dynasty. It came to be known as the Dutch Palace as it underwent major repairs at the hands of the Dutch. It is famous for its long and spacious halls along with its central courtyard. It is also the home of the deity of the royal family, Pazhayannur Bhagavathy (the Deity of Pazhayannur).

Puthuvype Beach

One of the less visited but yet very beautiful beach is the Puthuvype beach. administration is making a lot of efforts to promote this place as an alternative to Cherai Beach, being a suburb of the city of Kochi. A lighthouse is also situated here. The light house is situated less than half a kilometer away from the beach. This lighthouse is one of the tallest in India. There is a shallow ditch to the north of the Beach. Entry to the light house is permitted from 3 P.M to 5 P.M.  You can visit on a weekend for a perfect break from the city in peace and solitude.

Princess Street

Loafer's Corner, also known as Princess street is one of the earliest streets to be constructed in Fort Kochi, Ernakulam. Princess Street with its European style residences still retains its old world charm. The best view of this quaint street can be had from Loafer's Corner, the traditional meeting place and hangout of the jovial funloving people of the area.

Mattancherry

Historic Mattancherry is known for 16th-century Mattancherry Palace, built by the Portuguese in traditional Keralan style. Jew Town, the atmospheric area around the 1500s Jewish Synagogue.Even today, Mattancherry has people of different tongues and ethnic identities. Churches, agraharams, mosques and a synagogue co-exist in the area, along with the buildings of the colonial era, pointing to a vibrant past and a harmonious present.

Kodanad Elephant Training Centre

​The Kodanad Elephant Training Centre, which was moved to Abhayaranyam near Kaprikkad, is one of the largest elephant training centres in Kerala. It is flanked by the high ranges and is set near the southern banks of the Periyar River. Since the ban on capturing elephants was enforced, this place now serves as one of the premier elephant training centres in Kerala. Muthanga of Wayanad and Konni of Pathanamthitta are two other elephant training centres. One may also visit PunnathurKotta in Thrissur where over 40 elephants specially groomed for the Guruvayur Temple are kept. It is surely every elephant lover’s paradise to view these magnificent beings up close.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, when European powers were trying to establish their trading might over India, the Dutch were drawn to the land rich in pepper and other spices. The Dutch wished to establish a settlement on the coast of Malabar, where they might be territorial sovereigns, as well as traders without being subject to the “rapacious exactions of the Muhammadan [Mughal] government, or the neighbourhood of their successful rivals, the English”. Fort Kochi

Paniely Poru

St. George Syro Malabar Catholic Church

The church is thought to have been founded in 593 AD. It is regarded as one of the oldest churches in Kerala, after the seven churches founded by Thomas the Apostle in the first century AD.[citation needed] The church was originally dedicated to the Marth Mariam (Virgin Mary) In 1080, a new church was built adjacent to the old church.
